BEFORE YOU RIDE

Get to know Brayo’s city

OYAA is an independent game by Julius Kinuthia, built around Nairobi’s motorcycle and matatu culture. Brayo starts with a bike and a road ahead. The city gives him reasons to stop: a passenger needs a lift, an attendant can refill the tank, or Malcolm calls with a mission. Street cred and coins reward play; they have no cash value. The game’s handling, traffic and stunts are fictional. Real riding requires training, protective equipment and respect for road rules.

Learn in Rider School

Malcolm introduces one action at a time. Hold GAS to accelerate and BRAKE to slow down. On a keyboard use Right and Left arrows; Space jumps, H calls OYAAH, and E or Q controls a wheelie. Touch players use the labelled on-screen controls. Open Controls from the lobby or Pause for the full layout.

Keep the ride going

Watch the fuel gauge before taking a long stretch. Stop beside a pump, release GAS and let the attendant fill the tank. Garages repair damage. Gear previews let Brayo try a look before buying; each item shows the coins, cred or distance needed to unlock it. Local progress stays in this browser.

Read the road

The mini-map helps track fuel stops and destinations. Stop at a marked junction to choose an available exit; riding through keeps the current route. The route network uses OpenStreetMap data, but distances, terrain and scenery are adapted to a side-view arcade game. It is not a navigation service.

Free Ride

Explore with three hearts, answer mission calls and build up earned gear. Passenger lifts ask for a steady ride; fans respond to an OYAAH greeting. Daily and weekly challenges offer smaller goals to track between longer rides.

Cup Ride

Ride with one life and chase your personal best. Use a ghost run as a reference for improving your own pace. Keep enough control to survive the traffic and terrain rather than spending every second on the throttle.

Online Race

Quick Race matches riders on a shared featured course when other players join. Create Room gives friends a private race and a shareable invite link. Online races need a connection; a quiet lobby may need time for another rider to arrive.

DEVELOPMENT NOTES · 30 OCTOBER 2026

Clearer junctions. A better garage.

The latest web update changes exit choices to appear when Brayo stops near a junction. Road transitions now rebuild drawing and collision together, with terrain-pad fixes intended to remove the reported road steps at turns. The lobby has new Brayo-and-bike artwork, and the online menu has dedicated Quick Race and Create Room badges. When another web version is ready, the lobby offers an Update game button.

These changes passed the project’s automated checks. Phone-specific road rendering and push-notification delivery still need device confirmation. Short rider IDs and public name discovery are not enabled in this release. Development notes describe what shipped, rather than promising that every reported device issue is resolved.

Your game, your choices

Live Google ads are currently off. Optional analytics and reminders start off, and you can play without enabling them. Your progress and settings are stored on your device; clearing site storage removes local saves. Google-linked profiles can restore nickname and crew contacts, while coins and riding progress remain local. Read the privacy page for Firebase services, voice chat and notification details.
